Baldwin and Cooper Best Bitter – Howe Sound Brewing

Howe Sound Brewing in Squamish BC is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries/pubs.  “The Baldwin and Cooper Best Bitter” follows along with this trend for sure.  The beer is named after the first two people to climb the Grand Wall of the Stawamus Chief in 1961.  This beer has a high hops content and as such has a strong bitterness as the name would suggest.  This beer is not for the Lager drinkers out there.  This beer is for people who prefer a stronger more flavorful beer.  The alcohol content is 5.5% and has an IBU of 52.  From my experience an IBU of 52 is a pretty standard bitterness rating.  If you enjoy the hopy bitter beers this would be a great beer for you to pick up next time you see it at your local liquor store or when you are next in Squamish.

  1. One of my personal favorites too! Have you tried any of their signature series, other than King Heffy? I thought I saw a review of Total Eclipse of the Hop but I can’t find it here.

    • I have been trying all their beer as I come across it or purchase it up in Squamish. They do not make bad beer. I could have swore I had written a Total Eclips review but I can not find it anywhere. I will have to just do one again.
