On Monday December 17th 2012 I was up in Squamish for work and decided to stop in and try to pick up some of their Woolly Bugger Barleywine as it is hard to get ahold of. I was talking to a male staff member at the bar and did not realize it was Paul Wilson the brewery Brewery Manager. Once I brought up the fact that I had a beerblog and I really liked both the Megadestroyer and Woolly Bugger among others he offered to give me a tour of the brewery. The brewery is really just getting back up to speed now with their new brewing equipment that they have brought in both inside the brewery and on the side of the building including a grain silo. Here are a few photos of my quick tour of the brewery from their less used grain loft on the third floor to the brewing and brewing/packaging levels. The packaging area used to be the underground parking for the building (not sure if it is all of it) but they have expanded way beyond the original brewery. I could really feel the enthusiasm from Paul and it makes me wish all professions could be this exciting!
- Fermentors
- Bottling machine
- Last batch of Woolly Bugger 2012 being bottled
- Spiral Stair Case connecting all three levels
- grain in the grain loft
This was just a quick little tour of the brewery as I was up in Squamish for work so the photos and information is not as fleshed out as usual but it is still a nice little look into what Howe Sound Brewing looks like behind the scenes.
Being both a brew pub and an Inn this is a great place to stay the night and really get to know the beer that they produce!
