Octopus Ink Black IPA – Pike Brewing Company

From Pike Brewing Company located inside the Pike Place Market in Seattle Washington comes their “Octopus Ink Black IPA”.  A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this brew goes to the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance that help keep Seattle’s water clean.  This IPA pours a dark black colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of roasted malts, coffee, and floral hops.  The flavour is of roasted malts and coffee, chocolate, smoke and piney hops.  The alcohol content of the brew is 8.2% and the IBU sits at 85.  This is one of the best Black IPA’s or Cascadian Dark Ales I have had in a long time.

Commercial Description:  Bittered with Chinook hops; flavor and aroma hops include Centennial, Amarillo, Citra, and Simco. Dry hopped twice in the ferminter and conditioning tank.
