From San Diego California’s Green Flash Brewing Co comes their “Palate Wrecker” Imperial India Pale Ale. If you want a beer with enough hops to trash your palate this is your beer! The IPA pours a deep copper colour with an off white head. The aroma consists of malty and fruit with lots and lots of floral hops and pine. The flavour is of huge hops bitterness and pine with a malty semi fruity finish. The alcohol content of this brew is 9.5% and the IBU is a tested 149. This is an amazing double IPA for crazy hop heads like me. This beer will not be everyone but it is amazing none the less!
Commercial Description: Palate Wrecker was originally brewed for the Hamilton’s Tavern 2nd Anniversary celebration. It’s the most complicated West Coast–inspired IPA we have ever brewed—mashing and sparging with hopped wort, in addition to our hop layering regimen for IPA. We use almost 6 lbs/bbl of Columbus and Centennial hops to create this very bitter hop monster (tested at 149 IBU and no extracts in case you were wondering). Just had this in the weekend past, great beer.
Holy crap it makes it to New Zealand!
I was actually walking out the store with a bottle of the West Coast IPA, and a staff member walking past me said “Nah mate, you want the Palate Wrecker.”
I love that bottle store.
Hope you purchased both. I hear only 4 boxes made it here to British Columbia so pretty good as we are close!
