O’hare’s Beer Club June 2013 Box
From Eugene Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing Company comes their “Vanilla Oatis (Oatmeal Stout With Vanilla)”. The Stout pours a dark brown colour with a brown head. The aroma consists of vanilla, roasted malts and chocolate. The flavour is of vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate, an overall sweetness and mild hops bitterness. The alcohol content of this brew is 7.2% and the IBU is 50. This is a very nice flavoured vanilla stout.
Commercial Description: A delicious oatmeal stout with just enough hops to balance the copious quantities of dark roasted malts, oatmeal for a creamy smooth drinkability, and whole vanilla beans for a rich complexity. To achieve this higher level of decadence, we added in whole vanilla beans to the final stage of fermentation – the same process we use to dry hop a beer.
