Limited Release
From Four winds brewing out of Delta comes their second limited release cork and cage brew (only the third beer to be corked in BC and second by Four Winds). Their “Saison Brett” was taken from their very first batch of their Saison and then put into Okanagan Red Wine barrels with the wild yeast Brettanomyces. The beer was in barrels for an estimated 6 months (my estimate). The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a huge white head. The aroma consists of bready malts, fruity, pepper, spices, and some mild funk coming from the Brettanomyces. The flavour is of bready malts, yeast, citrus, apples, mild red wine, citrus rind, pepper, spices, oak and a great funk coming from the Brett. The alcohol content comes in at &% with an IBU of 28. I have to agree with almost everyone I have heard from so far that this is probably the best Saison that has been made in the Province of British Columbia. This is not just lip service this is an amazing beer! Pick up a few bottles one or more for now and at least one to cellar for a year or more. The Brettanomyces will continue to go wild and build even more complex flavours over the next few years.
Commercial Description: Aged in Okanaganred red wine barrels, our Saison Brett is invigorated by wild yeast strain Brettanomyces, inviting hues of straw and earth.

Totally agree that it’s the best BC saison yet! Just awesome stuff. I’d say it’s 90% as good as Logsdon’s seizoen bretta. Looking forward to seeing what a little age does – my plan is to have one at 6 months, one at 1 year, and one at 2 years
It’s been a while since bretta but I know I love that too. If it is 90% then he’ll ya as Seizoen Bretta is probably the best saison on earth lol.
