Rocket Man Interstellar ESB – Dead Frog Brewery

From Aldergove’s Dead Frog Brewery comes their new “Rocket Man Interstellar ESB” the first brew from brand new head Brewer Nick Fengler.  The beer pours a deep amber colour with an off white head that clings to the glass with lots of lacing.  The aroma is of tropical fruits, citrus and malts but not much else.  The flavour is of tropical fruits, citrus, malts, earthy with a pretty good hops bitterness to round things off.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.5% with an IBU of 40.  After tasting this brew I would have to say that Dead Frog Brewery has picked the right person to extend their brand and create new and exciting beers.  I really enjoyed this ESB even if it was a little off style with the Northwest love of tuned up hops in our beer.

Commercial Description:   Commence countdown to a perfectly balanced tropical space ale dry-hopped with Galaxy.   Massive explosions of tropical fruit from Galaxy and Apollo hops collide with storms of Maris Otter Floor Malt to create a hop forward brew with a surprisingly smooth finish.

This one was nice, it’s great to see some newer ESB’s on the market these days. Apparently the style isn’t dying after all!
