From Penticton BC’s Tin Whistle Brewing comes the “Osprey Pear White IPA” an IPA with not only wheat but pear as well. The beer pours a mildly cloudy yellow with a white head and some lacing left on the glass. The aroma consists of pear, wheat, floral hops and a fruity finish. The flavour is of fruity pear, wheat, yeast and hops bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 6.5% with an IBU of 50. I don’t even like pear so I was a little worried about this beer. I am happy to report though that this was not only a refreshing wheat ale but it had a nice hops bite!
Commercial Description: An Okanagan and Belgian inspired IPA. Belgian wit base and malted wheat form the base with a generous heaping of fruity El Dorado and Calypso hops. Finished with freshly pressed Okanagan pear juice. This unfiltered IPA is ripe with fruit sweetness and balanced with just the perfect amount of hop bitterness.
