From Dageraad Brewing out of Burnaby BC comes their “Anno 2014″ a strong golden ale. This ale has been brewed with pears grown at the Sanderson Farm in Keremeos BC. The beer pours a cloudy colour that resembles a pear with some orange notes and a very generous head. The aroma consists of semi sweet fruits such as pears, coriander, yeast and floral hops. The flavour is of pears and a hint of citrus, yeast, brown sugar, wheat, coriander, resin and hops bitterness. The beer has a bit of a dry finish and is not sweet even with all the fruit flavours. The alcohol content comes in at 8.3%. Not sure if I have had an ale quite like this before but it is quite tasty and I might just have to grab a few bottles to cellar.
Commercial Description: Brewed with Indian coriander and pears harvested at their peak of ripeness from Sanderson Farm in Keremeos, BC, Anno 2014’s blend of spice and fruit note make it an excellent companion for holiday eating. Its warming alcohol strength helps the drinker fend off the chill of winter and makes the beer a good candidate for cellar-aging.
