Pale Ale – Red Racer Brewing (Dec 8, 2014)

Beer Advent Calendar 2014

From Red Racer Brewing (Central City Brewing) out of Surrey BC comes there “Pale Ale”.  The beer pours a amber colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of floral hops, earthy and fruity notes.  The flavour is of an overall fruitiness including apple, earthy, malts and a mild hops bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 5% with an IBU of 50.  I have a bad feeling this bottle is off.  Apple flavour can be caused by Acetaldehyde an off flavour that can be caused by many factors.  I will have to pick up some more of this to try it again as it has been a long time since I have had it and I enjoyed it then.

Commercial Description:  Red Racer Pale Ale is hand-crafted using Maris Otter barley from England and hops from Washington’s Yakima Valley. This big bold pale ale has a citrus aroma and a full malt body giving it a distinctive character designed to inspire the beer connoisseur in all of us.
