Helter Smelter Amber Ale – Rossland Beer Company

From Rossland Beer Company in Rossland BC comes their “Helter Smelter Amber Ale”.  This review is part of my lost notes that were recently found from my Summer trip to the Kootenays.  The beer pours a deep amber colour with off white head.  The aroma consists of biscuit malts, citrus and a sweet finish.  The flavour is of biscuit malts, fruity and citrus with a mild hops bitterness at the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 5% with an IBU of 22.  Being a Nano Brewery in the Kootenays makes it hard to find their beer as it is only sold out of the brewery itself but if you find yourself in Rossland make sure to stop buy and get a growler fill!

Commercial Description:  Our helter smelter is a classic amber with biscuit notes and a soft warming alcohol touch in the aroma and flavor. The hops aren’t your typical citrus hops, but they are still refreshing and crisp. Perhaps what’s best about this beer is that it has universal appeal to any and all beer drinkers.

Ah, the heart break of lost notes. I know the feeling well. I once lost an entire notebook of beer notes because i put it in the seat back pocket of a plane. Ugh!
