From North Vancouver’s Green Leaf Brewing Co at Lonsdale Quay comes their “Lamb Of God Sour Stout” a barrel aged sour stout. The beer pours an opaque black with a brown head. The aroma consists of roasty malts, earth, fruit and a hint of acidity. The flavour is of roasted malts, chocolate, burnt coffee, caramel, earth, cherries, dark fruits, oak and a very mild sour finish. The alcohol content comes in at 9% with an IBU of 15. With the strength of this beer you would think there would be a boziness to the beer but there was not. Talking with the guys at the brewery I expected this to be really sour but for the most part it was only noticeable in the finish. This is well worth a pickup and could be very approachable to a person trying to learn about sour beers.
