IPA 06300 – SanTan Brewing

From Chandler Arizona’s SanTan Brewing Company comes their “IPA 06300” a limited release beer.  This beer was filled at the brewery in a Crowler or what they call a Canzilla (a 1L can freshly filled at the brewery) and brought back to Vancouver to be enjoyed.  The beer pours a deep copper colour with an off white head.  The aroma consists of citrus, malts, earthy and floral hops.  The flavour is of citrus, lemon, caramel, earthy, mild hops, mild pine with a semi sweet finish.  The alcohol content came in at 6.5%.  This was good but not great IPA but still worth a try.

Description of the experimental 06300 Hops:  An experimental hop with loads of different characteristics. Cocoa, tropical, stone fruit, Jolly Rancher (oh yeah), passion fruit, and caramel.
Alpha Acid Range: 14 – 15%

I am a little surprised that I did not taste many of these flavours in this beer.  I am even more surprised that the flavour of a hops is of caramel and cocoa.
