Hopper Texas Brown – Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks

From the temporary gypsy brewers Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks comes their “Hopper Texas Brown” an American Brown Ale.  The beer pours a deep cloudy brown with a brown head.   The aroma is very malty with some earthy notes and even some toasted malt finish.  The flavour is of bready and toasted malts, molasses, mild sweetness, earth, pine, resin and a good hit of hops in the end.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.5% with an IBU of 65.  The hops presence in this beer almost bring it into the Black IPA category but not quite.  If you are looking for a Brown Ale with a nice big kick of hops check this one out.

Commercial Description:  What do you get when you supercharge an American Brown Ale with citric West Coast hops?  Meet “Texas Brown Ale”, a rare style that unlike it’s name originated from the homebrewing circles of Northern California in the early ’80s.  We’ve updated this style with some of our favorite hops: Galaxy, Columbus, Dr Rudi, Topaz, Amarillo, and Cascade for an aroma blast!
