From the newest brewery in Kelowna BNA Brewing comes their “Red Rothchild Red Ale”. The beer pours a reddish copper colour with a tan head. The aroma consists of maple syrup, earth, and malts. The flavour is of maple syrup, earthy, malts, fruity sweetness and maple tree branches. The alcohol content comes in at 5.5% with an IBU of 25. This was a very interesting beer where all of the flavours came together perfectly without being what you would expect. I look forward to getting up to Kelowna to try more of their beer!
Commercial Description: This beer is a classic, old fashioned beer designed after Western European styles of low carbonation, amber ales. The blend of Munich and caramel Aromatic malts gives it a bready note, while the dark red colour comes from a dash of deep Roasted malts. This beer takes a break from the hop forward flavours of our other offerings, and provides a completely different interpretation. The defining flavour comes from Kyle’s father Jim’s backyard: chips from his Maple tree were soaked in maple syrup and smoked out back to give the beer a rich smoked woodsy finish with a hint of Maple.
Key Ingredients: Munich & Aromatic Malts, Soaked & Smoked Maple chips, Sterling & CTZ hops
