Brune Aigre – Steel & Oak Brewing Co

From New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing comes their “Brune Aigre” a Belgian style Brune.  The beer pours a red brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of caramel, sweetness and earth.  The flavour is of mild tartness, caramel, toffee, sweetness and maybe a hint of nuts.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.8% with and IBU of 23.  Not the best release from Steel & Oak Brewing but still an enjoyable beer.  It is impressive that the brewmaster is playing with sour beers though as he is trained in the traditional German style of brewing.

Commercial Description:  Caramelized for extra malt sweetness and kettle-soured for a tart and refreshing finish, this 6.8% Belgian Brune style ale high-fives fruity esters and fist bumps lactobacillus. Made with yeast from our friends at Dageraad Brewing Co.
