From Cannery Brewing Company out of Penticton BC comes their new “Darkling Oatmeal Stout”. The beer pours a brown almost opaque colour with a light brown head. The aroma consists of chocolate, oatmeal and a sweetness in the finish. The flavour is of milk chocolate, oatmeal, licorice, earth and a semi sweet finish. The alcohol content comes in at 5.5% with an IBU of 30. This is a really good stout and I am excited that Cannery was the brewery that created it! Its always nice to see exceptional beer coming out of other areas of BC than Vancouver.
Commercial Description: Poetry and beer go hand in hand…. The balance and rhythm in both creates a seamless artistry that rolls over your palate and lingers, waiting to be deciphered. This oatmeal stout balances smooth mouth feel with bittersweet roasted flavours to brighten the blackest of days. Our Darkling Oatmeal Stout is available in 650ml bottles and will be the Brewer’s Choice beer in our Cannery Collection package from October – December 2015. It is also available for sale in 6-packs in our tasting room and for Growler fills. Design and illustration by Myron Campbell.
