From Steamworks Brewing in Burnaby BC comes their latest seasonal release the “Blitzen Belgian Tripel”.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of banana, clove, light malt base and a sweetness.  The flavour is of banana, candied sugar, citrus, clove, sweetness, spices and Belgian yeast.  The alcohol content comes in at 9% with an IBU of 20.  Belgian Tripels are not my favourite as I find them very sweet and while this one is quite sweet it does taste good and stands up to similar beers in the style.

Commercial Description:  Curl up closer to the steam pipes, and warm up to the festive season. This Winter Ale is an ode to Belgian Tripel. It shows apple, and citrus aromas, along with a toasted malt character.
