From Tin Whistle Brewing in Penticton comes their latest edition of “Chocolate Cherry Porter”. This is a brand new recipe this year much like many of their brews coming out of their new location. The beer pours an opaque black colour with a brown head. The aroma consists of big cherries, chocolate, some roasted malts and toffee. The flavour is of semi sweet cherries, chocolate, toffee, roasted malts and a hint of bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 5.5%. When I hear cherry and chocolate I usually think of those chocolate covered maraschino cherries and I run away but luckily this beer tastes nothing like those and is quite enjoyable. The brewery even recommends making it into a beer float. I had some leftover ice cream cake and tried it out. It worked quite well in my opinion!
