From Edmonton, Alberta’s Alley Kat Brewing Company comes one of their Dragon Series the “Blue Dragon (Dragon Series) Double IPA”. The Dragon Series is a series of Double IPA’s being release every two months using different hop varieties.  The Blue Dragon pours a cloudy orange with an off white head. The beer smells very floral, earthy with caramel malts. The flavour is of big bitterness up front with resin, pine, earth and a hint citrus. There is no doubt this is a west coast IPA. The alcohol content comes in at 7.5% with an IBU of 75. While I like a little more fruit notes in my Double IPA’s this is quite tasty.

Commercial Description:  A fruity aroma with notes of pine leads of this brew followed by a pronounced pine and resin with subtle hints of citrus and tropical fruits.  Columbus hops give way to aromas of fresh fruit, pine and resin, making this Dragon one of our favourites.
