From Torchlight Brewing in Nelson BC comes their “Broadside India Pale Ale”. The beer pours a deep amber colour with a tan head. The aroma consists of caramel, bready, understated fruit notes and floral hops. The flavour is of caramel, toffee, bread, tropical fruits, citrus, citrus rind, some resin and earth and bitterness in the finish. The alcohol content comes in at 7% with an IBU of 60. The bitterness is not huge so I would personally consider this on the bitter side of an English IPA. While it is not a huge hop bomb it is still a beer that hits you with a ton of flavour. If you find yourself in the Nelson area make sure to pick up some of Torchlight Brewing’s beer!
Commercial Description: “Fire all guns!” A broadside is the maximum firepower a vessel can deliver to a single target all at once. Devastating to your enemies if well timed. Similarly Broadside India Pale Ale brings to bear the full power of malt and hops within the crimson glory of this full bodied ale.
