Reynard Oud Bruin – Strange Fellows Brewing

From Strange Fellows Brewing in Vancouver comes their latest barrel aged beer “Reynard Oud Bruin”. The beer pours a brown colour with a tan head. The aroma consists of cherry, dark fruits, vanilla, oak, leather, tartness, vinegar and some sweetness. The flavour is of lots of oak, cherry, dark fruits, toffee, caramel, earth, tart and vinegar. The beer comes in at 6.5% alcohol. Iain Hill is well know in the local beer scene for making a great Oud Bruin and now it is available in all its glory in Bottles. Get out and buy a few for yourself. You will not regret the purchase!

Commercial Description:  Both villain & hero of the story, Fox is the quintessential trickster, exposing foolishness & greed with an irreverent flick of his tail. Not caring a fig what society thinks, he disobeys convention to satisfy his desires, often unveiling the truth along the way. This classic Flemish style beer, with its sweet & sour character is a tribute to fox’s duality. Aging for one year in French Oak barrels lends a subtle woody vanilla note to this tart, cherry-like brown ale.

Food pairing as per brewery: Earthy cheese, vinegary salad, Moules Frites, Carbonnade Flamande, Dessert…
