Ambrée Biére De Garde – Backroads Brewing

Pacific Beer Chat

From Backroads Brewing in Nelson comes their “Ambrée Biére De Garde” the first barrel aged beer from the brewery.  The beer pours a deep amber colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of red wine, cherries, plum, toffee, oak and a sweetness in the finish.  The flavour is of grain, oak, red wine, cherries, plum, raisins, other dark fruits, citrus, pith, low bitterness and a small tartness in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.8% with an IBU of 20.  If you have the luck in getting a bottle or two of this do it as it is an exceptionally tasty brew.

Commercial Description:  Our take on this unique style features predominant plum and raisin notes with hints of black cherry and oak. Aged in Pinot Noir barrels, the smooth, subtly sweet body is complimented by a crisp and delicately tart finish.
