From Upstreet Craft Brewing in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island comes their “Neon Friday DDH Oat IPA”.  Neon Friday is a line of on-offs that are big on hops and push flavour and aroma to the limit according to the brewery.  The beer pours a murky deep orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of mango, pineapple with very juicy fruity notes and a sweet finish.  The flavour is of mango, pineapple, melon, citrus rind, mild herbal hops and low bitterness levels.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.5% with an IBU of 50.  This was a really nice brew and a good first try of Upstreet Craft Brewing’s beer.   Thanks to 902 BrewCast for sending me this beer!

Hopping Mad Cider – Central City Brewers & Distillers

From Central City Brewers & Distillers in Surrey comes their “Hopping Mad Cider”. The cider pours a very light yellow colour with a white head. The aroma consists of apples, citrusy lemon and floral hops. The flavour is of apple, lemon, grassy hops and some sweetness. The alcohol content comes in at 5%. This is not a sweet or dry cider but in between. Im not really a cider fan but I have already crushed a few of these cans.

Commercial Description: Hopping Mad Cider takes traditional cider and turns it upside down. Gone are the days of over-sweet and too dry ciders. Black Lager – Russell Brewing

From Russell Brewing in Surrey comes their “Black Lager”.  The beer pours a deep chestnut brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of roasted malts, chocolate, nuts and sweetness.  The flavour is of roasted malts, chocolate, mild ash, mild smoke, nuts, sweetness and low bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 5%.  This is an easy drinking Black Lager with just enough flavour for the beer geek but not so much to scare away the average beer fan.

Commercial Description: Oh man, this is the ocean of beers. Big, Dark and Endless. Once called Schwarzbier, we Canadians prefer Black Lager. Midnight Wheat with Pilsen and Dark Munich Malts make it genuine. Our fearless brewer dove into the abyss and arose from the depths with this great beer.

Chocolate River Imperial Stout – Trinity Brew

From Trinity Brew in Colorado Springs Colorado comes their “Chocolate River Imperial Stout”.  The beer pours a deep brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and sweetness.  The flavour is of big roasted malts, burnt coffee, chocolate, vanilla, earth, mild bitterness and some mild alcohol in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 11%.  This was an extremely tasty beer and a very welcome purchase here in Metro Vancouver.

Commercial Description:  Chocolate River, Imperial Stout. Just in time to keep you warm during the colder months of winter! Its body is huge, its dark malt character is huge, its hop profile is gigantic, and its ABV is enormous. It’s basically everything that you would expect from a noteworthy Imperial Stout,and more!
