Pears In White Satin – Moody Ales (Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks)

From Moody Ales in Port Moody in collaboration with Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks out of Richmond comes their second iteration of the “Pears In White Satin” an Imperial Pear Kolsch.  The beer pours a cloudy straw colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of pear, tropical fruit, sweetness but dominated by fruit.  The flavour is of pear, tropical fruit, citrus rind, sweetness, grain, herbal with a low bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 7%.  I am not a huge fan of pears but I do really enjoy this kolsch.

Tiny Umbrella Double IPA – COAL HARBOUR BREWING

From Coal Harbour Brewing in Vancouver comes their “Tiny Umbrella Double IPA” a Pineapple and Passion Fruit brew.  The beer pours a murky orange juice colour with an off white head.  The aroma consists of pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit and sweetness.  The flavour is of pineapple, passion fruit, orange juice, citrus pith, mild alchol and mild bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 8.2% with an IBU of 60.  This beer has a big body and an awesome flavour.

East Coast IPA – RUSSELL BREWING

From Russell Brewing in Surrey comes their “East Coast IPA”.  The beer has the tagline delicious juicy vibes.  The beer pours on the lighter side of murky orange with a white head.  The aroma consists of fruity, juicy notes with floral hops and some mild herbal notes also.  The flavour is of juicy fruit notes, tropical fruit, citrus, pineapple, herbal hops, oats with a low bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 6%. While not fully to style for an East Coast IPA this one was tasty.

Ambrée Biére De Garde – Backroads Brewing

From Backroads Brewing in Nelson comes their “Ambrée Biére De Garde” the first barrel aged beer from the brewery.  The beer pours a deep amber colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of red wine, cherries, plum, toffee, oak and a sweetness in the finish.  The flavour is of grain, oak, red wine, cherries, plum, raisins, other dark fruits, citrus, pith, low bitterness and a small tartness in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.8% with an IBU of 20.  If you have the luck in getting a bottle or two of this do it as it is an exceptionally tasty brew.

Commercial Description:  Our take on this unique style features predominant plum and raisin notes with hints of black cherry and oak. Aged in Pinot Noir barrels, the smooth, subtly sweet body is complimented by a crisp and delicately tart finish.
