IPA for Autism – Red Racer Brewing

From Red Racer Brewing (Central City Brewing) out of Surrey BC comes the “IPA for Autism” a variant of their India Pale Ale.  In previous years Central City has brought us a variant of their Imperial IPA.  This year they changed up from the Imperial IPA as the IPA has a much larger distribution area.   Instead of $5 per bomber now $2 per 6 pack goes towards Autism research.  The beer pours an amber colour with an white head.  The aroma consists of floral hops, sweetness, citrus and caramel.  The flavour is of caramel, pine, resin, bitterness, citrus and melon.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.5% with an IBU of 80.  When it comes to standard IPA’s in 6 packs this would have to be one of the best.  Pick up a few six packs now and help fund Autism research while feeding your friends great beer!

Commercial Description:  This year Central City is releasing a special limited edition Red Racer IPA can for our IPA for Autism Program! $2 from every 6-can pack and 25¢ from every 473ml single can sold will be going towards our fundraising efforts for Autism Research. There will also be a limited number of BC draught accounts participating with 25¢ from every pint sold going towards the program. Check our IPA for Autism webpage for a list of participating on-premise accounts as well as our list of sponsors so far.  This year our program will be going Canada-wide!  Limited release IPA for Autism cans will be launched in April. Central City will also be accepting Autism donations at its Liquor Store and Brewpub + Restaurant.

Why Autism?  Autism now affects 1 in 68 children – 1 in 42 boys. And the numbers are worse in British Columbia, which is a hotspot for Autism. Autism is widespread, and it’s growing and Central City is dedicated to supporting the efforts to improve the lives of those that are affected by it.

Beer Advent Calendar 2014

Updated review to reflect new “Imperial IPA for Autism” special edition.
Updated again for the rebrand as Red Racer Brewing as part of the Beer Advent Calendar 2014

From Red Racer Brewing (Central City Brewers and Distillers) in Surrey comes the “Imperial India Pale Ale” this version is the Charity version “Imperial IPA for Autism” with $5 per bottle going to Autism research.  This beer is a award winning beer available in 650ml bottles.  The beer pours a deep amber with a white head.  The smell of the beer is of strong hops, pine, citrus, mango and caramel malts.  The flavour is fairly malty forward with lots of caramel malts with lots of fruity notes inducing citrus, mango, pine, resin earthiness and lots of hops bitterness.  The finish of this beer is both sweet and bitter.  the beer has an IBU of 90 and an alcohol content of 9.0% and packs a punch.  This is a very tasty India Pale Ale if you enjoy a nice bitter North West IPA’s.  This special edition bottle coming out in February/March 2013 is a great cause and should get everyone out to buy it!

Commercial Description:  Red Racer Imperial IPA is dry hopped with whole leaf hops from the Yakima Valley, combined with Maris Otter English barley, which is floor-malted in age old tradition. A long maturation ensures plenty of flavour, with strong aromatics of grapefruit, tangerine and mango.
