Beer Advent Calendar 2014

From Central City Brewers & Distillers (Red Racer Brewing) in Surrey comes their “Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter” a special version of the Bottle Conditioned Imperial Porter.  The beer pours a deep opaque brown colour with a brown head.  When I cracked the bottle open it started to spew head all over the place and made a real mess so be careful opening the bottles.  The aroma consists of vanilla, bourbon, malts, sweetness and an overall booze finish.  The flavour was of overpowering alcohol with bourbon, vanilla, tobacco, peat, smoke and ash.  The alcohol content comes in at 9% with an IBU of 40.  Not sure if its just me but this one just didn’t work for me (Sorry Garry).

Commercial Description:  This rich bourbon barrel-aged small batch ale exudes deep aromas of roasted malts and bakers chocolate combined with a silky full body, it leaves you wanting more.
