Cabalier Blue Blueberry IPA – Beau’s All Natural Brewing


From Beau’s All Natural Brewing in Vankleek Hill Ontario comes their “Cabalier Blue” Blueberry IPA. The beer pours very red with some floaties and a light reddish head. The aroma consists of Blueberries, herbal and grassy hops and some grain.  The flavour is of blueberries, mild tropical fruits, some bready malts, herbal and grassy hops with some hops bitterness in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 6%  with an IBU of 50.  Leave it to Beau’s All Natural Brewing to come up with a really interesting blend of flavours!

Commercial Description:  Built on the foundation of a generously hopped I.P.A., Cavalier Bleu blends the citrusy aromas of organic New Zealand hop varieties with the fruity flavours found in American Azacca and German Mandarina Bavaria hops. Topping it off is an infusion of organic blueberry juice made from wild Québec blueberries.

Food pairing as per brewery:  Venison steak with a blueberry reduction, blueberry cheesecake, beemster cheese.

Tin Soldier Pale Ale – Steel & Oak Brewing


From New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing comes their brand new New Westminster exclusive “Tin Soldier Pale Ale”.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of citrus, grain and floral hops.  The flavour is of citrus, resin, earth, bready malts and a great hops bitterness in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 5% with an IBU of 33 IBU.  This has to be one of the most complex Pale Ale’s I have had in a while.  Head out to New Westminster and pick some of this up soon.

 

Tangerine Dream Session Ale – 4 Mile Brewing Co


From 4 Mile Brewing Co in Victoria comes their “Tangerine Dream Session Ale”.  The beer pours a copper colour with an off white head.  The aroma consists of tangerine, candy fruit, sweetness and floral hops.  The flavour is of tangerine, orange, candy fruit, sweetness, bready malts and some low bitterness.  the alcohol content comes in at 4.25% with an IBU of 20.  This is a pretty tasty session ale and would be really tasty in the summer.

Habitus Double IPA – Mike Hess Brewing


From Mike Hess Brewing in San Diego California comes their “Habitus Double IPA”.  The beer pours a copper colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of tropical fruit, citrus, rye spice, herbal hops with a floral finish.  The flavour is of rye spice, pine, resin, citrus, tropical fruit, orange peel, bready malts, earth and bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 8% with an IBU of 100.  I always enjoy a good Rye IPA and this one does not disappoint at all.

Commercial Description:  Habitus, winner of the 2014 World Beer Cup℠ in the Rye category, is a spicy, crisp, and extremely drinkable double IPA. We use loads of Sterling and Chinook hops in the kettle and hopback (and even more during the dry hop) for intense pine aromatics accentuated by a rye and 2-row malt base for a truly great IPA experience.

Adrift Hop Blonde Ale – Britannia Brewing Company


From Britannia Brewing Company in the Richmond with a tasting room in Steveston Village comes their “Adrift Hop Blonde Ale”.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head. The aroma is of floral hops, sweetness and fruit. The flavour is of grainy and bready malts, citrus, tropical fruit, grassy notes and mild hops bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 4.7% with an IBU of 25. This is a good sessionable and aprochable beer. It wont knock your socks off but you should enjoy it. 

Commercial Description: Inspired by our home surrounded by the ocean and mountains this natural ale is brewed with generous late additions of local hops, creating aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. The palate is balanced and dry with subtle bitterness to complete this refreshing ale. “Set yourself Adrift”
