Boomerang Double IPA – Steel & Oak Brewing (Superflux Beer Company)

From New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing in collaboration with Vancouver’s Superflux Beer Company comes their “Boomerang Double IPA”.  The beer pours a seriously murky orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of orange juice, tropical fruit, pienapple, sweetness, floral hops and dankness.  The flavor is of big citrus rind, citrus, tropical fruit, resin, dankness and bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 8%.  This is a tasty brew but a little more bitterness than the average juice bomb.

Mixed Forecast mix pack – Moody Ales (West Coast Canning)

From Moody Ales in Port Moody in collaboration with West Coast Canning a mobile canning operation locally comes their “Mixed Forecast mix pack” containing the Shorts Weather ISA and the Still Raining Dark Lager.  This pack is just like the weather in Metro Vancouver in the spring, dark and stormy or almost summer like sometimes in the same day.

Still Raining Dark Lager

Still Raining Dark Lager pours a black colour with a brown head.  The aroma consists of mild roasted malts, caramel malts some coffee and a sweet note.  The flavour is of roasted malts, burnt coffee, mild caramel, earth and some bitterness in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 5.5% with an IBU of 24.  Can’t beat a good dark lager on a cold day and I would say this is a good one to enjoy on those days.

Shorts Weather ISA

Shorts Weather India Session Ale pours a copper colour with an off white head.  The aroma consists of fruity and floral hops with maybe a hint of malt.  The flavour is of resin, mild bitterness, citrus, melon with the slightest hint of malts.  The alcohol content comes in at 4.8% with an IBU of 47.  If you are looking for an IPA to session all day then you would do well to drink this one for sure.  Low alcohol and full flavour will make for a good session.

Funtimes Northern German Pilsner – Doan’s Craft Brewing Company (Gladstone Brewing)

From Doan’s Craft Brewing Company in Vancouver in collaboration with Gladstone Brewing comes their “Funtimes Northern German Pilsner”.  The beer pours a straw yellow colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of grain, citrus with some floral hops in the finish.  The flavour is of grain, citrus, sweetness, with some mild resin, herbal notes and bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 4.7% with an IBU of 32.  While I do not get excited for lagers this is an exceptionally produced lager and will be very refreshing to anyone that is looking for a good clean lager!

Hawaiian Ivory Milkshake IPA – 2 Crows Brewing (Kilter Brewing)

From 2 Crows Brewing out of Halifax, Nova Scotia in collaboration with Kilter Brewing in Winnipeg Manitoba comes their “Hawaiian Ivory Milkshake IPA”.  The beer pours a murky orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of tropical fruit, juicy hops, coconut, resin and lactose.  The flavour is of pineapple, mango, citrus, banana, citrus rind, resin, lactose, yeast and medium bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.3% with an IBU of 49.  Not as juice forward as many Milkshake IPA’s with a more pronounced bitterness but regardless it is a tasty juice bomb.

Commercial Description:  Milkshake IPA with coconut, mango, pineapple, banana, & lime.

Ryujin Belgian Tripel with Plums – Lighthouse Brewing (Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks)

From Lighthouse Brewing in Victoria BC in Collaboration with Richmond’s Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks comes the “Ryujin Belgian Tripel with Plums”.  The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of plums, candi sugar, some spice with a sweet finish.  The flavour is of plums, candi sugar, bubble gum, sweetness but not cloying like many Tripels, some grain, spice from hops and some mild alcohol in the finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 8% with an IBU of 20.  With the addition of plums to this tripel it makes it taste different than the norm which is good as I usually find Tripels far too sweet and I usually avoid them.  I would suggest picking up a bottle or two of this one.

Commercial Description:  Our collaboration brew with Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks from Vancouver!  A Belgian Tripel Style beer, Ryujin pours golden with dark plum on the nose and palate along with classic banana and spicy clove flavours.
