From Coronado, California’s Coronado Brewing Company comes their “Stupid Stout 2015″. The Imperial Stout pours an opaque black with a brown head. The aroma consists of roasted malts, toffee, ash and chocolate. The flavour is of roasted malts, ash, chocolate, toffee, molasses, anise, earth and mild bitterness. Even with the alcohol coming in at 9% you do not taste it. I really liked this one but then an Imperial stout without and alcohol burn is amazing in my books.
From Coronado, California’s Coronado Brewing Company comes their “Idiot IPA” a double India Pale Ale. The beer pours a light copper colour with a small white head. The aroma consisted of sweet citrus, malts, pine and a good floral hops hit. The flavour was of pineapple, fruit salad, grapefruit with lots of malts, pine and strong hops bitterness. The alcohol content was 8.5% with and IBU of 90. This is a very nice flavoured double IPA and I may have to trade for a second bottle sooner than later.
Commercial Description: It doesn’t take a genius to know quality West Coast IPA’s require a stupid amount of hops. A generous blend of Nugget hops and the four C’s – Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Columbus – brings forth a myriad of tropical fruit flavors and a brawny, persistent bitterness that makes for a highly intelligent brew.
