Hot Trub Time Machine Part 2 – Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks (Superflux Beer Company)

From Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks in Richmond in collaboration with Superflux Beer Company (formerly Machine Ales) comes their “Hot Trub Time Machine IPA Part 2″.  The beer pours a cloudy yellow with a white head.  The aroma consists of mild tropical, pine, resin, citrus rind, wheat with a floral finish.  The flavour is of with hints of pineapple and citrus.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.9% with an IBU of 61.  This currently tastes like a massive West Coast IPA with the look of an North East IPA.  This was bottled and consumed on Jan 24th, 2018.  The original version of this from 2016 was far more fruity but I have a feeling as this one ages for a week or two the fruit notes will pick up.  Its a really nice West Coast IPA none the less.

Commercial Description:  Hot Trub Time Machine IPA Part 2:  A juicy, dank, pineapple explosion of tropical hops!  Featuring Denali & Vic Secret hops.

Double Infinity (Galaxy) – Superflux Beer Company

From Superflux Beer Company brewing out of Strathcona Beer Company in Vancouver comes their “Double Infinity (Galaxy)” a Double IPA.  The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of tropical fruits, stone fruit and citrus with a herbal and floral finish.  The flavour is of herbal hops with citrus rind, tropical fruits, melons, stone fruit, resin and bitterness with a hint of alcohol.  The alcohol content comes in at 8%.  Superflux Beer Company is a big player in the local North East IPA style and this one is killing it just like their other brews.  Pick this up if you can find it.

Commercial Description:  We’re thankful for Galaxy Hops. They make better beer than turkey bones do. Hope you fellow Canadians enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday today! Our first Double IPA “Double Infinity” will be available in cans at Strathcona Beer Company while supplies last.

Guayabera Citra Pale Ale – Cigar City Brewing

From Cigar City Brewing in Tampa Bay Florida comes their “Guayabera Citra Pale Ale”.  The beer pours a cloudy golden colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of citrus, herbal and floral hops and a sweetness.  The flavour is of citrus, melon, herbal, resin, hint of dank hops, bitterness and some bready malts.  The alcohol content comes in at 5.5% with an IBU of 50.  This Pale Ale is absolutely a great example of what I like in a beer of the style.

Commercial Description:  Traditional throughout Latin America, the guayabera shirt combines style, functionality, form and tradition in it’s four-pocketed design.  We at Cigar City feel the same reverence and appreciation for the guayabera that we do for the Citra hop varietal, an ingredient that imparts notes of tangerine, lime and berries to this traditional American Pale Ale.  The exclusive use of Citra hops in this beer creates a flavor that’s at once unique and recognizable, while it’s dry, crisp character and moderate alcohol make it as refreshing and functional as a crisp linen guayabera.

Tropical Milkshake ISA – The Parkside Brewery

From Port Moody’s The Parkside Brewery comes their “Tropical Milkshake ISA” their Anniversary beer.  The beer pours a murky orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of tropical fruits, juicy hops, lactose and floral hops.  The flavour is of tropical fruits, juicy, lactose, resin, earth, dank hops and some bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 4.6% with an IBU of 40.  More dank and bitter than your average Milkshake IPA but I quite enjoyed it.

Kool Koala Double IPA – Twin Sails Brewing

From Twin Sails Brewing in Port Moody comes their “Kool Koala Double IPA”.  This is the breweries second release from their new brewery only release.  The beer pours a cloudy yellow colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of citrus, very mild malts and floral hops.  The flavour is of and lots of hops bitterness, citrus, tons of tropical fruit with a mild alcohol finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 8.2%.  This is just anouther amazing release from Twin Sails Brewing!

Commercial Description:  Kool Koala joins our tasting room only DIPA series today. This one was heavily dry hopped with Galaxy, Motueka and Summer. These Aussie and Kiwi hops put forward huge tropical fruit on the nose with candy and tropical fruit on the palate. At 8.2% ABV, this one is way too crushable. Like our first TR only release, this one is very limited and likely will not make it past the weekend. Limit of 2 flats per person.
