From New Westminster’s Steel & Oak Brewing in collaboration with Vancouver’s Superflux Beer Company comes their “Boomerang Double IPA”. The beer pours a seriously murky orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of orange juice, tropical fruit, pienapple, sweetness, floral hops and dankness. The flavor is of big citrus rind, citrus, tropical fruit, resin, dankness and bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 8%. This is a tasty brew but a little more bitterness than the average juice bomb.

Finger Guns Simcoe IPA – Twin Sails Brewing
From Twin Sails Brewing in Port Moody comes their “Finger Guns Simcoe IPA”. The beer pours a hazy orange with a white head. The aroma consists of tropical fruit, citrus, grain, floral hops and herbal. The flavour is of tropical fruit, citrus, herbal hops, grain, dankness and some low bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 7.2%. If you like a good juice bomb and Simcoe hops then you need to try this.
Commercial Description: 100% Simcoe IPA. Finger Guns is the next adaptation of our award winner Day Blink pale ale. We hit this beer with a huge dry hop of Simcoe which is instantly noticeable on the aroma. Lots of dankness and peach aromas until front with a soft juiciness in the finish. This beer is definitely one of our favourites in the single hop series and we’re excited to add it to the list!
Seeking Asylum Belgian Double IPA – Yellow Dog Brewing Company (AleSmith Brewing)
From Yellow Dog Brewing in Port Moody in collaboration with AleSmith Brewing out of San Diego California comes their “Seeking Asylum Belgian Double IPA”. The beer pours an amber colour with a white head. The aroma consists of Belgian yeast, tropical fruit, sweetness and floral hops. The flavour is of Belgian yeast, tropical fruit, pineapple, citrus rind, low malt presence, dankness and bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 8% with an IBU of 90. Its no surprise to me that these two breweries would come together and make an awesome Double IPA! Its probably almost gone off the market now but it was really tasty.
Commercial Description: Seeking Asylum is a 8% abv and 90 IBU Belgian-style Double IPA co-created with San Diego’s Alesmith Brewing, described as “smooth and full-bodied with a west-coast twist. Imagine a west-coast DIPA mixed with a Belgian style triple!”
N.E. IPA – Strathcona Beer Company
From Strathcona Beer Company in Vancouver comes their “N.E. IPA”. The beer poured a cloudy orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of floral and herbal hops, tropical fruit like mangos and mild citrus. The flavour is of herbal hops, resin, pine, earth, citrus rind, tropical fruit, mango, caramel malts, bitterness and a dank finish. The alcohol content comes in at 5.5% with an IBU of 55. While someone hoping for a total juice bomb may not be totally sold this is a great crossover between the North East IPA and a North West IPA.
Double Infinity (Galaxy) – Superflux Beer Company
From Superflux Beer Company brewing out of Strathcona Beer Company in Vancouver comes their “Double Infinity (Galaxy)” a Double IPA. The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of tropical fruits, stone fruit and citrus with a herbal and floral finish. The flavour is of herbal hops with citrus rind, tropical fruits, melons, stone fruit, resin and bitterness with a hint of alcohol. The alcohol content comes in at 8%. Superflux Beer Company is a big player in the local North East IPA style and this one is killing it just like their other brews. Pick this up if you can find it.
