Tombstone Piledriver Black IPA – Kettle River Brewing Co

From Kettle River Brewing in Kelowna comes their “Tombstone Piledriver Black IPA” a Cascadian Dark Ale.  The beer pours a more or less opaque black colour with a brown head.  The aroma consists of some roasted malts, tropical fruit, citrus and a floral hops finish.  The flavour is of roasted malts, earth, resin, pine, tropical fruits, citrus and a big bitterness finish.  The beer is really balanced between the fruits and roasted malts.  The alcohol content comes in at a nice strong 8.7%.  This lands right in my wheel house for Cascadian Dark Ales as it still feels like and IPA and not a very roasty stout.

Spruce Willis IPA – Kettle River Brewing Co

From Kettle River Brewing in Kelowna comes their “Spruce Willis IPA” a White IPA with spruce tips. The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of citrus, tropical fruit, wheat and floral hops. The flavour is of spruce, resin, citrus rind, citrus, light tropical fruit, wheat yeast and bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 6.2% and comes from the batch Lot 380. A well made White IPA is a treat and I consider this one in that category.

Dark Cherry Sour Saison – Kettle River Brewing Co

From Kettle River Brewing in Kelowna comes their “Dark Cherry Sour Saison”.  This beer comes from the lot BR4.  The beer pours a very cloudy reddish brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of cherry, tartness, oak and some tannins.  The flavour is of oak, red wine tannins, cherry, malts, earth and some bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 5.5%.  This is not a perfect Sour Saison but I would not hesitate to purchase more bottles if I was back in Kelowna.  It was definitely a tasty one.

Barrel Aged Dry Hop Blonde – Kettle River Brewing Co

From Kettle River Brewing in Kelowna comes their “Barrel Aged Dry Hop Blonde”.  This beer was bottled on March 11, 2016 from lot BR004.  The beer pours a copper colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of wine, citrus, oak and fruit.  The flavour is of wine, lots of citrus, biscuit, pine and some bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.4%.  I am not huge on wine dominated barrel aged beers but I do think that this one did work together well to make a good beer just not to my personal preference.  Thanks for picking this up for me Chelsea of Brewtiful British Columbia.
