Bridge Brewing Company in North Vancouver has jumped back on the bandwagon of the Milkshake IPA with “The Fuzz Milkshake IPA”. The beer pours a very cloudy murky deep orange colour with a tan head. The aroma consists of peach, citrus, malts and floral hops. The flavour is of peach, mango, citrus, lactose sweetness, caramel and bitterness. This has a really creamy mouthfeel to it. The alcohol content comes in at 6% with an IBU of 45. This is probably the most try to style we have seen locally in BC so far with it being just so murky and cloudy! The first few sips it was a bit sweet for me by I really warmed up to it an enjoyed it even more when I cracked my bottle.
From Steamworks Brewing in Burnaby BC comes their latest release”Nitro Mango Milkshake IPA”. The beer poured a off white cascading nitro pour that settled into a deep cloudy orange colour. The aroma consisted of mango, tropical fruits with very floral hops and some sweetness. The flavour is of mango, tropical fruits, grapefruit peel, lactose sweetness, resin and mild bitterness. This was basically as creamy as any nitro stout you have ever had. The alcohol content comes in at 6.7% with an IBU of 45. While this was a weekly one off and they only made two kegs and it may be gone it needed to be shared just how creative and tasty this beer was! I hope they decide to make more of this beer soon. This beer was discussed in Pacific Beer Chats IPA episode.
Bridge Brewing Company in North Vancouver has jumped on the bandwagon of the Milkshake IPA with their “Test Batch Kiwi IPA”. Not only are these beers cloudy like the North East IPA’s but they are also infused with Lactose to make them creamy and sweeter. The beer pours a deep cloudy orange with a white head and Mild lacing. The aroma consists of lots of kiwi and citrus fruits with an overall juicyness, lactose sweetness, caramel and some floral hops. The flavour is of juicy kiwi and citrus fruits, caramel, lactose sweetness, hint of resin and some hops bite without having very much bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 5.6% with an IBU of 40. I may be lactose intolerance but holy do I like where this new substyle is going. If you find yourself at Bridge Brewing check out this beer!
From Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks in Richmond comes their latest “The Last Mango Wit”. The beer pours a very cloudy orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of tons of mango, wheat and lots of sweetness from the lactose. The flavour is of mango, citrus, wheat, bready malts, yeast, maybe vanilla and lactose sweetness. The alcohol content comes in at 4.9% with an IBU of 8. I don’t go out of my way to try wheat beers as a rule but I love mangos and this beer delivers on the promise of a great fruit infused wit without being overly sweet.
