Lamb of God Sour Stout – Green Leaf Brewing Co

From North Vancouver’s Green Leaf Brewing Co at Lonsdale Quay comes their “Lamb Of God Sour Stout” a barrel aged sour stout.  I think this bottle was of the 2016 Vintage but I am not sure.  The beer pours an opaque black colour with a brown head.  The aroma consists of tartness, mild roasted malts, cherry, sweetness and a hint of ash.  The flavour is of cherry, tartness, roasted malts, burnt coffee chocolate, ash, hint of oak and earth.  The alcohol content comes in at 9% with an IBU of 15.  This newer vintage of Lamb of God has much more tartness than it did back in 2015 and was as such more enjoyable.  Check it out if you get a chance.

Raspberry Sour – Green Leaf Brewing Co

From North Vancouver’s Green Leaf Brewing Co at Lonsdale Quay comes their “Raspberry Sour”.  The beer pours a deep red colour with a red head.  The aroma consists of raspberries with tartness and sweetness.  The flavour is of rasberries, mild earth, tartness and a very dry finish.  The alcohol content comes in at 6%.  Being a raspberry sour it does not stray far from the one fruit but it is quite tasty and worth a pick up!  Especially if you head to the brewery and try out all of their sours on tap currently.

Commercial Description:  A pound of raspberry for every liter of our Blonde Ale Sour.

Dark Saison (Red Wine Barrel) – Green Leaf Brewing Co

From North Vancouver’s Green Leaf Brewing Co at Lonsdale Quay comes their “Dark Saison (Red Wine Barrel)”.  This beer was barrel aged for one full year in a red wine barrel.  The beer pours a black opaque colour with a brown head.  The aroma consists of huge red wine, wood, dark fruit, hint of citrus and some malts hidden in the background.  The flavour is of lots of red wine, wood, earth, some yeast notes, roasted malts, dark fruit and alcohol.  The alcohol content comes in at 9%.  This was a pretty good brew but I am not really a fan of wine so I would have liked to see notes of red wine instead of the wine being the main flavour.

Modern Gentleman Aged IPA – Green Leaf Brewing Co

From North Vancouver’s Green Leaf Brewing Co at Lonsdale Quay comes their “Modern Gentleman Aged IPA” a barrel aged IPA.  The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of oak, fruit and floral hops.  The flavour is of oak, fruit, grapes, earth, hops bitterness and some hints of lingering Brett funk.  I would associate this beer more with a Barleywine than a Double IPA.  The alcohol content comes in at 9% with an IBU of 80.  For what I was expecting this beer was a little odd but I did quite enjoy it.
