Silver Valley Brewing – Maple Ridge

Maple Ridge has its newest brewery in Silver Valley Brewing.  The brewery opened their doors to a quiet soft opening on September 21st, 2017.

When you walk through the doors you are welcomed with a really warm tasting room.  Wood top tables with white walls and a nice tile back splash that looks almost like brick.  They had 4 beer at the time of opening with one extra guest tap but as you can see in the photos below there will be more beer in the future.  They also have food items to have with your beer.

The brewery itself is pretty tiny at Sliver Valley.  The fermentation capacity is 7 – 2 barrel fermentors with a two barrel brew house and a 4 barrel hot liquor tank.  With the seven fermentors they should be able to keep beer flowing on their taps.

I always love checking out new breweries and I like what Kevin has done with the space and beers are tasting pretty good right off the bat.  I look forward to heading back in the near future.

Core Sample Northwest IPA – Ridge Brewing Company

From Ridge Brewing Company in Maple Ridge comes their “Core Sample Northwest IPA”.  The beer pours a copper colour with a beige head.  The aroma consists of tropical fruit, citrus, dankness and floral hops.  The flavour is of tropical fruit, lemon, melon, some resin, dankness and medium bitterness that lingers.  The alcohol content comes in at 6.6% with an IBU of 62.  I have to say this is a really refreshing NW IPA and I look forward to finishing my growler.

 

Silver Valley Brewing Co (Under Construction) – Maple Ridge

Maple Ridge now has a third brewery in the works.  This new brewery will be known as Silver Valley Brewing Co.

Located only a short drive from the other two breweries this is shaping up to make a brewing district in Maple Ridge.

The following are photos of their current state of construction.

Photo one is from the brewery looking back towards the tasting room.  To the right hand side of the photo you will find a bar along the far right wall as well as tables.  The bar will be on the left.  Photo two is from the lounge looking towards the bar.  The bar will wrap around the cold room that has been framed up in the foreground.  To the right side of the photo you will find the bar and the growler filling station.  Wrapped around the left hand side of the cold room will be the food prep station.  They will be panini sandwiches.  The third photo is from the tasting room looking back towards the brewery itself.  In the 4th photo along the right wall you will find the washrooms.  The 5th photo is of the cold room behind the bar.  Photo 6 is of the elevated slab where the brew house and fermentors will be located.  The last photo is of the same area with more detail.  Behind the brewery will be an office.  In the back right of the photo there will be a large door for deliveries.

This is an exciting new Nano Brewery coming to BC and if you want to try out their beer right now you can head over to Ridge Brewing and try their Collaboration The Lion ESB.  I had a quick sample and it was really easy drinking and refreshing.

Pride Beer Berliner Weiss – Ridge Brewing Company

From Ridge Brewing Company in Maple Ridge comes their “Pride Beer Berliner Weiss”.  A portion of the profits from this beer go to a local LGBTQ group.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of sweetness, juicy fruits and a mild tartness.  The flavour is of tons of fruit including citrus, melon and apples, with wheat and lots of tartness from Lacto.  The alcohol content comes in at 3.6%.  I’m a fan of the Berliner Weiss style and this one is no different.  It has lots of flavour with a good tartness hit.

Grapefruit IPA – Ridge Brewing Company

From Ridge Brewing Company in Maple Ridge comes their “Grapefruit IPA”. The beer pours a copper colour with a white head. The aroma consists of grapefruit, lemon and floral hops. the flavour is quite citrusy with lots of grapefruit and lemon, caramel malts, some earthy nots and hops bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 5.7% with an IBU of 73. I consumed this beer on tap at the brewery and found it very refreshing.
