Spruce Willis IPA – Kettle River Brewing Co

From Kettle River Brewing in Kelowna comes their “Spruce Willis IPA” a White IPA with spruce tips. The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head. The aroma consists of citrus, tropical fruit, wheat and floral hops. The flavour is of spruce, resin, citrus rind, citrus, light tropical fruit, wheat yeast and bitterness. The alcohol content comes in at 6.2% and comes from the batch Lot 380. A well made White IPA is a treat and I consider this one in that category.

Evergreen Ale – Phillips Brewing

From Phillips Brewing in Victoria BC comes the “Evergreen Ale”.  As the name states this beer uses spruce tips in the brewing process that were hand picked by the crew at Phillips.  The beer pours a golden colour with a white head.  The aroma of this beer is of spruce (woody, piney) with citrus and malty notes.  The beers flavor consists of citrus, malts and a good hint of spruce woodiness.  This is an interesting flavor for a beer and very refreshing!  This is an ale but it drinks more like a lager as it is light in flavor and very refreshing.  The beer sits at 5.5% alcohol and 100% awesomeness!
