From Penticton BC’s Tin Whistle Brewing comes the “Kettle Valley Amber”. The beer pours a deep amber colour with an off white head. The aroma consists of caramel malts, citrus and tropical fruits and a mild sweetness. The flavour is of caramel, earth, citrus and a big tropical hit with a decent hops bitterness kick for and Amber Ale. The alcohol content comes in at 5%. I do not remember the original version of this beer but from the sound of it this batch has changed up the hops that are used. I really like how the tropical fruit hit from the hops mixes with the amber ale malt base.
Commercial Description: A medium bodied beer with an aromatic and citrus hop flavour. The malt follows through a deep caramel richness. The finish is crisp with a slight bitterness. Very drinkable.
Persephone Brewing out of Gibsons BC has started up a single hop series recently. The third beer in this series is the “Eureka Pale Ale” a series where the beer recipe will only be altered at the hops level. I can not find any information on Eureka hops so I can not look up what to expect from this hop. The beer pours an orange copper colour with an off white head. The aroma consists of floral hops, tropical and sweet malts. The flavour is of earth, caramel, tropical fruit, orange, sweetness, pine, mild bitterness and some resin in the finish. The alcohol content comes in at 5%. Once again this was a great pale ale with lots of flavour.
