Weeping Reaper Blood Orange Helles Bock (2017 Edition) – Dead Frog Brewery

From Aldergove’s Dead Frog Brewery comes their “Weeping Reaper Blood Orange Helles Bock” a flavoured lager. The beer pours a copper colour with an off white head.  The aroma consists of orange, citrus rind, toffee and floral hops.  The flavour is of earth, citrus rind, orange, toffee, mild bitterness and some grain.  The alcohol content comes in at 7% with an IBU of 26.  Once again this year the flavour of this beer has changed up a bit.  I quite enjoyed this edition of the beer.

Commercial Description:  A HAUNTING GOLDEN LAGER WITH A SPLASH OF CITRUS, A SWEET CARESS OF FRUIT HOP FLAVOUR AND AROMA, AND A BRISK DRY FINISH.

Recommended glass as per brewery: HOLLOWED OUT SKULL OF YOUR ENEMIES

Food Pairing as per brewery: GRILLED PORK, SPICY CHICKEN TACOS, SWISS CHEESE

From Aldergove’s Dead Frog Brewery comes their “Weeping Reaper Blood Orange Helles Bock” a flavoured lager.  The beer pours a cloudy orange colour with a white head.  The aroma consists of bready and grainy malts, citrusy orange and floral hops.  The flavour is of orange, citrus, citrus rind, grainy and bready malts, earth and hops bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 7% with an IBU of 26.  While a typical Helles Lager is not a style that I would usually drink this Blood Orange Helles Bock is quite tasty.

Weeping Reaper Blood Orange Helles Bock – Dead Frog Brewery

From Aldergove’s Dead Frog Brewery comes their new “Weeping Reaper Blood Orange Helles Bock” a very flavourful style of lager.  The beer pours a copper colour with a slightly off white head.  The aroma consists of bready malts, citrus and blood orange.  The flavour is of bready malts, caramel, citrus, citrus rind, blood orange and some hops bitterness.  The alcohol content comes in at 7% with an IBU of 26.  Helles Bock is not a style I know all that well but this one tastes great especially because the flavour seems to evolve as you drink it.  I recommend picking up a bottle to try it for yourself.

Recommended glassware from brewery:  Hollowed out skull of your enemy.  I just used a whiskey snifter personally though.

Commercial Description:  A warm golden lager with a splash of citrus and slight caress of fruity hop flavour and aroma. Premium European malts and hops result in a brew that’s light in colour but not in body with a perfectly balanced finish.
