Salted Black Porter – Field House Brewing

From Field House Brewing in Abbotsford comes their “Salted Black Porter”.  The beer pours a deep brown colour with a tan head.  The aroma consists of roasty malts, hint of salt and mild smoke.  The flavour is of roasted malts, caramel, mild smoke and salt, dark fruits and licorice.  The alcohol content comes in at 7%.  When I read salt and licorice the first time I was worried as that is the only way I do not enjoy licorice but luckily both are subdued in this beer and it rounds out into a very nice flavourful treat.

Tried 2 of the beers from Field house . The salted porter and Eastern Ipa and wasn’t very impressed. This brewery seems to very popular for being so new and not having a established line of beers . I find Old Abbey and Ravens a lot better and there isn’t a giant mob of scenesters just hanging out to be cool , it’s about the beer not marketing to be cool that’s the impression I got from going to Field house . will try them again in the future if they expand their offerings.

Odd. I wonder if they rushed a batch of their salted porter. The Salted Porter and the sour Gose are great. The IPA i agree is not my favourite
