Beer Advent Calendar 2014
From Red Racer Brewing (Central City Brewing) out of Surrey BC comes there “Pilsner”. This craft pilsner pours a straw colour with a white head. The aroma consists of grainy/bready malts, citrus and some grassy hops. The flavour is of bready malts, citrus, lemon and a mild hops bitterness. The alcohol content is 5% with and IBU of 30. I am not a big lager or pilsner fan but this is a good representation of a pilsner and would be good on a hot summer day.
Commercial Description: Red Racer Pilsner is brewed in the classic Bavarian tradition, using only the finest two-row barley, and hops from the Hallertau region of Germany. This light and golden Pilsner has a distinct hop aroma and flavour, with a dry, crisp finish.
Food Pairing according to O’hare’s Beer Club notes are as follows:Fried oysters with spicy remoulade.
I agree – not a lager drinker myself, but my German father-in-law would probably like this one, and it was easy enough and pleasant to drink. I’ve been wanting to try it, so was happy when I pulled it out of the box.
Yeah its a solid pilsner but I don’t drink Pilsner and lagers. Way to light.
